Saginaw, MI — Dr. Pamela Pugh, President of the Michigan State Board of Education, has officially launched her campaign to represent the communities of Bay, Midland, and Saginaw Counties in the Michigan State Senate. See launch video here.
The 35th District seat has been vacant since January, leaving more than 270,000 Michiganders without representation in Lansing during a time of urgent need and growing challenges.
Dr. Pugh brings a record of bold, people-first leadership and a deep commitment to protecting public education, public health, public infrastructure, and our environment from privatization, disinvestment, and the outsized influence of corporate interests. She supports economic development that uplifts both people and small businesses—not one at the expense of the other.
“I’m running to put power back in the hands of the people,” said Dr. Pamela Pugh. “I’ve stood up for our communities—and stood up to anyone, and any policy, that’s written us off. And I haven’t backed down. I’ve worked to clean up neighborhoods while creating real economic opportunity because progress should serve people and support our businesses, without leaving either behind.”
Dr. Pugh holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering, as well as Master’s and Doctorate degrees in Public Health from the University of Michigan. She previously served as Chief Public Health Advisor to Flint during the water crisis and has been a tireless advocate for clean water, educational equity, and community-centered development.
With her campaign, Dr. Pugh is committed to bringing inclusive, transparent, and accountable leadership to Lansing and ensuring that every voice in the 35th District is heard.
Dr. Pamela Pugh is proudly endorsed by 314 Action, a national organization that supports pro-science candidates with backgrounds in STEM.
