Saginaw, MI — Dr. Pamela Pugh’s campaign for Michigan’s 35th State Senate District continues to surge forward, fueled by everyday people across mid-Michigan. Since launching in July, Pugh for Michigan has received more than 1,290 individual contributions, with support across Saginaw, Bay, and Midland Counties.

In total, the campaign has raised about $74,291.32 in direct contributions and an additional $1,164 in in-kind support, with most funds raised during the second quarter — $56,609.82 raised in quarter two, following $17,681.50 in quarter one — showing that momentum is building as the campaign heads toward the February 2026 primary.

“This campaign is rooted in community, and these numbers prove that people believe in what we’re building,” said Dr. Pamela Pugh, a public health scientist and President of the Michigan State Board of Education. “We’re bringing together neighbors who care about clean water, strong public schools, and opportunity for working families. Every dollar and every act of support is an investment in a future where all Michiganders can thrive.”

Across all contributions to date:

  • 1,296 total contributions, underscoring a true people-powered movement

  • Almost 70% of donations were under $25 and over 45% under $10, proving that this campaign is powered by everyday people, not political insiders

  • $1,164 in additional in-kind contributions, including donated materials and event support

Dr. Pugh filed her campaign committee on May 20, 2025 and officially launched her campaign on Good Trouble Lives On Day of Action, July 17, 2025. Since then, she has drawn strong grassroots enthusiasm from voters inspired by her leadership in public health, environmental justice, and education equity.

“Our campaign is powered by everyday people, teachers, retirees, small business owners, and working-class families, who know what’s at stake. Scientists from across the country, wishing to get more scientists to the decision-making table and supported by 314 Action, have also chipped in with small donations,” Pugh added. “That’s what people power looks like, neighbors, workers, and dreamers all coming together to deliver leadership that listens.”

The special election primary for Michigan’s 35th District will be held February 3, 2026, followed by the general election on May 5, 2026.
