Lowering Costs for Working Families
I am dedicated to building a strong and inclusive economy that allows workers to sustain a family here in Mid-Michigan. By investing in working-class families like the one I grew up in, I want to build an economy that works for everyone, regardless of race, zip code, or educational attainment:

Family-Sustaining Wages
I recognize that a living wage is essential for individuals and families to thrive. I am committed to crafting policies that ensure every worker's wage covers their basic needs, including housing, healthcare, education, and a secure retirement. I will continue to support efforts to increase the minimum wage and promote fair compensation practices that narrow income inequality gaps.

Job Creation and Workforce Development
In the State Senate, I will support policies that allow small businesses to hire more workers and pay them higher salaries. I believe in cutting red tape for small businesses and supporting them first and foremost, ahead of massive corporations. This includes passing the MiCare bill that would guarantee every Michigander has a right to healthcare, removing a massive cost burden off of both workers and businesses. I also want to ensure we have workers prepared for 21st-century jobs by supporting initiatives that provide affordable and equitable access to job training and development, including vocational and apprenticeship programs.

Supporting Workers and Protecting Labor Rights
For too long, politicians have abdicated their responsibility to protect workers' health and future. As a former union member, I will be a vocal supporter of workers' right to collectively bargain. I will always stand up to corporate greed and fight for healthy and safe working environments. I will also ensure that workers have what they need to succeed, that means passing universal childcare legislation that ensures no worker has to choose between their job and quality childcare for their children.
