Quality and Affordable Healthcare for All

I believe that access to quality health care should be a fundamental human right, and an individual's financial status should never determine it. I am dedicated to championing affordable healthcare for all, recognizing that a healthy population leads to stronger and more prosperous communities. In the State Senate, I'll work to address the complex challenges faced by our current healthcare system, ensuring that no one is left behind and that everyone has access to the care they need to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

 

Universal Coverage

The current healthcare paradigm is broken. We need a system that provides coverage for all individuals, full stop. Every American should be able to access healthcare without the fear of going bankrupt. I believe this system needs to cover preventive care, mental health support, and treatment for chronic illnesses. That is why I support the MiCare legislation sponsored by State Rep. Carrie Rheingans that would ensure every Michigander has access to quaility healthcare.

 

Health Equity

We must collectively acknowledge the existing disparities in health outcomes among different communities, whether racial/ethnicity, socio-economic, or geographical. I know that I cannot change our healthcare system alone, but with my experience in public health, I can help move us in the right direction with a focus on health equity when it comes to policy making decisions. 

 

Strengthening Healthcare Workforce

I deeply understand the critical role that healthcare professionals play in delivering essential, quality care. I will support initiatives to enhance the recruitment, training, and retention of health care providers, from physicians, to nurses, to therapists and everything in between. We must strive to create a supportive and equitable work environment for healthcare professionals, ensuring their well-being and job satisfaction.
