Standing up to MAGA

As the Trump Administration continues to attack vulnerable communities​ and make life less affordable for Michigan's working families, we need strong, experienced Democratic leaders to stand up to his callous and chaotic agenda. I am no stranger to standing up to failed Republican leadership. From defending our students and educators from MAGA conspiracies and Republican funding cuts, to standing toe-to-toe with Rick Snyder in Flint, I'm not afraid to speak truth to power. As State Senator, I will use every tool in my arsenal to protect Michiganders from Trump's harmful policies.

 

Fighting The Oligarchy

Since Trump came into office, he has made it clear that his primary goal is padding the pockets of his billionaire buddies. Let me be clear. Billionaires should not exist. For decades, income and wealth inequality in our country has skyrocketed, and the cost of living has not kept up with wages. That is why I not only support increasing taxes on the ultra wealthy to fund things like public schools & infrastructure, but also raising wages for working people, including tipped employees. As the rich continue to get richer and the lives of working people continue to get harder, I will fight to hold these oligarchs and billionaires accountable and make sure they pay their fair share.​

Taking Trump to Court

Since Trump came into office, I've joined efforts to hold him accountable legally. In March of last year, I joined Michigan AG Dana Nessel in a lawsuit challenging his unlawful firing of Department of Education employees. We continued our fight in July when the Trump Administration attempted to strip Title Funding from our most vulnerable students and neglected schools, suing again, which later resulted in the release of dollars. I am not afraid to stand up to Trump and will do everything in my power to hold him and his Administration accountable.

Defending Our Democracy

With numerous threats and statements casting doubt on our electoral process coming down from the federal level, I will support any efforts to make our elections safer and more accessible here in Michigan. MAGA understands that if everyone votes, then their chances of winning are greatly diminished; that is why they continue to attack our Democratic process and gerrymander district lines to hold on to power. In the State Senate, I will stand up for our Democracy and ensure that elections and the voting process are safe, acces and fair.
